SPORTS MASSAGE addresses specific problem areas within the musculoskeletal system.
Knowledge of each muscle and muscle groups, how they work and how they are affected
can help maintain muscular balance, postural alignment and optimum performance.
Treatments include:
- Postural Assessment: When an injury occurs in one area, it will almost certainly cause misalignment throughout the musculoskeletal system. Assessing the body at certain points can help diagnose and correct problem areas.
- Deep Tissue Massage: Massage techniques enhance elimination of metabolic by-products of exercise and maximises the supply of nutrients & oxygen through stimulating blood circulation. Neuromuscular & Soft Tissue Relief helps to alleviate pain in specific areas, stretch & relax muscle tissue and break down adhesions or scar tissue.
- Stretching and Strengthening exercises: These may also be carried between treatments to obtain a rapid recovery, to prevent injury or reoccurrence of, and to sustain equilibrium.
This massage is of great benefit to athletic persons. It may also benefit people who may have gained problems through occupational hazards or people who are being troubled by past injuries.
Sports Therapy Massage is beneficial in the treatment of:
- Chronic and acute injuries
- Repetitive strain injuries
- Postural problems
- Prevention. If you are undergoing regular exercise, S.T.M. may be applied post and/or pre-event to avoid injury or reoccurrence of old muscular problems.
